Stina found her unexpected dream job: “It was something I hadn’t really seen before.”

25-year-old Stina moved from Skåne to Stockholm and changed careers, from political scientist to a media salesperson. It’s a life choice she never imagined but one she hasn’t regretted.
“I love this workplace, there really is no better place to work,” she says.

When 25-year-old Stina Larsson set foot in Framtidmedia’s office for the first time, she had no idea what to expect.
– I was surprised when I got here, it seemed really fun and very different. It was something I hadn’t really seen before: the atmosphere, there were people running around talking on the phone, there was music and there was a lot of movement, she says.

The change couldn’t have been much bigger either. Stina had just moved to Stockholm from Lund where she had studied human rights, peace and conflict studies, political science and economics for four years. And after completing a semester-long internship at a peace and women’s organization, she was now looking for a new challenge.

Her idea was to find a job in the media industry, and by chance she ended up on Framtidmedia’s website, where she first read about the job as a media salesperson.
– It sounded like something that could suit me and I really wanted to try something new. At the same time, it was a bit difficult to grasp before you got into it and understood what kind of products you were working with and what you were selling, she explains.

According to Stina, an important key to successful sales is knowing “everything” about both the product you are selling and the customer you are selling to. Preparation, persistence and hard work are therefore the most important qualities for those who want to succeed as a salesperson.

– I think you have to be very energetic, like things to happen and enjoy having many balls in the air. Of course, it also requires a lot of structure and organization, but the most important quality is that you are forward and driven. There is a lot of personal responsibility. You have a framework and a clear goal to follow, but how well you do depends 80 percent on your own efforts, she says.

So even though Stina herself had never thought of working as a salesperson, the job turned out to be perfect for her. At Framtidsmedia she got a job where she constantly develops, gets to try new things and has a unique community with her colleagues.

– I love this workplace, there really is no better place to work. It feels like everyone who starts here fits in and can be themselves. There are many different types of people who complement each other. When things get tough, you also have help from everyone around you. I got a lot of help in the beginning when I was new and it was really appreciated. The colleagues are kind of what makes the job.
